MEDIA
The media landscape offers great diversity and pluralism. More than 185 domestic publications and 580 newspapers
and magazines are distributed in Tunisia. There are 886 journalists and more than 60 foreign correspondents in
Tunisia. Liberalization measures taken by the government since 1987 have encouraged the media in general and gave
more incentives to the opposition press in particular.

The audiovisual media environment is marked by openness to the outside world (with access to satellite and cable
brodcasting) and special efforts have been made to general access to new communication and media technologies.
Through a series of presidential initiatives, schools, universities, hospitals and research centers were connected
