US Ambassador in Tunis expresses thanks for Tunisian support in wake of attacks

United States Ambassador in Tunis, Rust Deming, expressed his "deep gratitude" for the expressions of sympathy and support conveyed by the Tunisian government and people towards the United States of America in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Washington and New York.

"I would like to offer my deep gratitude for the many messages of sympathy, support and condolence that we have received from President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, members of the Government of Tunisia, thousands of Tunisian citizens, Tunisian associations, and the diplomatic community in Tunis," said Mr. Deming in a statement issued by the American Center in Tunis.

These messages, he added,"are testament to the strong, close ties that link the United States and Tunisia and a comfort in these difficult times. We know we can continue count on close Tunisian support as we work with other members of the international community to defeat this common threat to humanity".
