Tunisia loses to Japan 2-0, ends World Cup adventure

The Tunisian national football team lost today 2-0
to the Japanese team.
The two goals were scored by Morishima (48') and Nakata (77').
After this loss, Tunisia leaves the world cup. It has previously lost to Russia (2-0) and
tied to Belgium (1-1).
Tunisia's participation in the 2002 Korea-Japan world cup is its third participation in
a world cup finals.

The national football teams of Tunisia and Japan tied Monday ( 1-1), in a world cup finals game played in the city
of Oita, Japan.
The Belgian team scored first (Wilmots, 13') before the Tunisians tied, 4 minutes later (Bouzaiene, 17'). The Tunisian
players missed many opportunities at scoring additional goals.
The Tunisian team had lost to Russia 2-0 in its first game last week. It will play Japan, next Friday.

The Tunisian national football team lost to Russia 2-0 in its first game in the World Cup football finals.
The Russian goals were scored by Titov (59') and Karpin (64').
Tunisia still has to play Belgium and Japan.

Tunisia's national football team lost Sunday to Denmark (1-2), in a warm-up match to the World Cup finals.
The goals were scored by Ziad Jaziri, for Tunisia (62'), and by Jesper Gronkjaer (17') and Ebbe Sand (67'), for
Denmark.
The Tunisian team's fans back-home had their first taste Sunday at early morning football viewing, the game having
been shown live from
Japan by Tunisian TV.
Tunisia faces Belgium, Russia and Japan, in the World Cup Finals.
World Cup 2002 : Tunisian football team arrives in Japan

Saiki, Japan 18 May (TunisiaOnline)-- The Tunisia national football team arrived Friday to Japan after a
16 hour special flight from Tunis.
The Tunisian team will play two friendlies, the first against
Argentina (May 22) and the second against Denmark (May 26), before embarking upon its third adventure in world
cup football finals.
In the finals, " The Carthage Eagles " will be
in the same group as Russia, Belgium and Japan.
The list of Tunisian players invited to make the trip to
Japan is comprised of :

Tunisia and Norway tie in football friendly
Tunis 27 march (Tunisiaonline)-- The
national football (soccer) teams of Tunisia and Norway tied 0-0 in a friendly they played in El Menzeh Stadium,
near the capital city Tunis.
Tunisia is preparing for its participation in the world cup finals.
French head coach leaves Tunisian national football team
Tunis, 26 March 2002 (Tunisiaonline)-- French
trainer Henri Michel announced Tuesday that he is no longer to continue as head coach of the Tunisian national
football (soccer) team.
Mr. Michel has served as head-coach of the Tunisian team since last January, with the start of pan-African football
cup (Mali 2002). The Tunisian team, which is the second in Africa, according to FIFA rankings, could not go beyond
the first round of the African Cup finals.
No replacement is yet to be named for Mr. Michel. A Tunisian Football federation. A press conference today is expected
to shed some light on how the Tunisian team is going to get ready for the next world cup after the departure of
the French coach. Two Tunisian assistant coaches were named in recent days to help the latter train the Tunisian
team.
Tunisia is to play Wednesday the national team of Norway. Tunisia is preparing for the next world cup finals (Korea
Japan 2002).
Two new assistant coaches named for Tunisian football team
Tunis 23 March 2002 (TunisiaOnline)-- Two
Tunisian coaches have been named to assist the head-coach of the Tunisian football team, Henri Michel. The new
coaches are Ammar Souayah, who had led a Tunisian underdog team to win the national football cup last year, and
Khemais Labidi, former head-coach of the Tunisian football squad which won, last september, the gold medal at the
Tunis Mediterranean Games.
They will replace, as of Monday March 25, Mr Albert Rust, a French assistant coach, and will as such help Mr Michel
get the Tunisian national football team ready to play the Nowegian team in in a friendly scheduled for next Wednesday,
March 27.
The Tunisian team is preparing for next the World Cup finals (Korea Japan 2002).
According to the FIFA football rankings published March 22 by world football governing body FIFA, The Tunisian
team currently holds the 29th position among all other nations of the world. As such, it ranks first in the Arab
world and 2nd in Africa (behind the Cameroon).
World Cup 2002: Professionals playing abroad invited to national football team
friendly
Tunis, 21 March 2002 (TunisiaOnline)-- Tunisian professional football (soccer)
players playing abraod have been invited to take part in the national team's next friendly against Norway.
The list of 24 players invited to the training camp preceding the game, scheduled
for next Wednesday, March 27, includes Adel Sellimi (SC Freibourg -Germany), David Jemmali (Bordeaux- France),
Hassan Gabsi (Genova- Italy), Hatem Trabelsi (Ajax Amsterdam -Netherlands), Riadh Bouazizi (Bursasport- Turkey)
and Zoubeir Beya (Besiktas - Turkey).
The national football federation has also announced that it has ended the contract of Albert Rust (France) as assistant
coach. He will be replaced by two Tunisian assistant coaches. French national Henri Michel still remains the head
coach of the Tunisian team.
Tunisia is scheduled to play host country Japan as well as Russia and Belgium in the next World Cup Finals (Korea-Japan
2002).
